Workers Memorial Day is observed annually on April 26 to honor workers who have died or suffered serious injuries on the job, and to renew the fight for safe and healthy workplaces.
Purpose and Significance
The AFL-CIO marks this day to remember those lost to workplace hazards and to reaffirm the commitment to workplace safety. It commemorates the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in 1970, which guaranteed every worker the right to a safe job — a right won through decades of labor movement organizing AFL-CIO+1.
The day serves as both a tribute and a call to action, urging continued advocacy for stronger safety
The holiday season is here. For the public, it’s a time of anticipation. For us, it’s a test of endurance.
While kids and families across the country eagerly await their gifts and the holiday magic that comes with it, we know that magic takes a lot of our hard work.
We are the engine room of the holidays. This year, we want to ensure that the public understands the effort we put into making the holidays happen.
Please pick up your phone and share a little bit about your peak season.
We want to flood social media with our stories and share with the public what it takes to make the magic happen.
Whatever you do at the post office, your labor makes this season possible. Will you share your story?
